Now that I’ve shared my welcome post, I thought I’d dive right into one of my favorite places — our nearby town, just a walk from our doorstep. For our recent date night, we decided to keep it simple: a stroll there and back, with plenty of views along the way and a cozy dinner at the pub waiting for us.
The Walk There
The walk itself isn’t anything fancy, but it always feels good to set out on foot and know we’ll end up somewhere we love. According to my Apple Watch, the round trip was 3.5 miles, including the little stroll around the town — which meant our date night doubled as a bit of exercise, too.

And of course, the walk back is always the challenge — it’s all uphill! Definitely a climb, but worth it after such a lovely evening.
The Town
Ironbridge has such a cozy, welcoming feel. I love its charming old architecture, the beautiful views of the river, and the sense of history that lingers in every corner. No matter how many times we visit, there’s always something that makes it feel special.

Dinner at the Pub
We ended the evening at The Malthouse, one of those pubs that somehow manages to feel both lively and cozy at the same time. Since it was such a beautiful evening, we started with drinks outside before heading in for a hearty meal. If you know me at all, you’ll know I love sharing plates — so that’s exactly what we did! Here’s what we tucked into:
- Drink pictured (one of my favorites): Rhubarb & Ginger Gin with Diet Lemonade
- Hot Honey Sausage Fries: sausage, honey, cheddar
- Barbecue Glazed Crispy Sesame Chicken
- Kamikaze Fiery Chicken Bites
- Wild Rocket & Parmesan Salad
- Cajun Chicken Burger: smashed avocado, smoked paprika mayonnaise

Heading Home
With full stomachs and happy hearts, we made the uphill walk back. It might be a climb, but there’s something satisfying about ending the night with fresh air and the glow of street lamps guiding us home.
Sometimes the best date nights don’t require a big plan — they’re waiting just around the corner (or in our case, down the hill!).

I adore this!! I feel like I’m living vicariously through you on this journey!
